GARDEN CARE, EXPLAINED / TOP-DRESSING

A smoother surface for your lawn

A carefully chosen, light dressing can help with small surface dips or a lawn renovation.

A light top-dressing helps smooth small dips without burying the grass.

WHAT IT DOES

A little understanding.
A better conversation.

Top-dressing spreads a thin layer of suitable sand or soil blend through the grass. The material depends on whether the aim is minor levelling or improving the soil profile.

THE RIGHT TIME AND APPROACH

Plan the work while the grass is growing well and can recover. An already healthy, even lawn may not need top-dressing; deeper dips can require staged treatment.

HOW IT WORKS

Assess. Care. Follow through.

01

Start with the garden

Check the lawn, soil and low spots, and agree what the dressing should achieve.

02

Choose the right method

Spread the selected material lightly and work it down between the grass blades.

03

Finish with a plan

Keep leaf tips visible, tidy the surrounding area and explain how to help the lawn grow through.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Good care keeps going.

Water as advised to help the material settle. Avoid burying the grass under extra material, and allow new growth before further levelling or normal mowing.
